Shared owners

RHT has 443 shared ownership houses in 99 village locations from Sussex on the South Coast to North Yorkshire. Each one was built in partnership with the Parish and District Councils to help meet a need for affordable housing in the local community. The nature of the location and objective of the development mean that there are restrictions on the occupation of the homes and the sale to a new shared owner.

A condition of the planning permission was that a shared owner cannot buy any more than 80% of the equity. We own a minimum of 20% in perpetuity. Our properties are sold leasehold to help ensure that local people continue to have priority for an affordable home.

The information through the links below will answer many of your questions about living as a shared owner. Please email us at office@ruralhousing.org.uk  if you need any further information.
